A year ago I upgraded from Quicken 2007 for Macintosh to Quicken Essentials 2010 for Macintosh. Appears that with the coming of OS X 10.9 Mavericks, we are once again faced with various peripherals that cease to function correctly. I was able to transfer the data from my desktop and open it in my MacBook Air that has Snow Leopard. I upgraded to Mavericks and now my Quicken 2007 is not supported, in other words I los all my banking info.

Part of this is MS’s policy to force Metro style desktop on everyone including corporate users who most of the time utilize desktop interface heavily. I’m a professional and I can’t see too many companies taking a leap to 8(8.1) anytime soon (let’s say another 10 years?). The first good OS they released was Windows 7 (after 10 years since XP release) and let’s face it – Windows 8(8.1) is unusable for an enterprise users. Jumping on the upgrade bandwagon early is a sure way to a headache.As others have mentioned, it is more than the OS that needs to be considered. Especially if you have let’s say 500+ users on 5 different continents.I have work in enterprise for many years supporting Mac. I’m surprised by stats for enterprise users but at the same time I also know that OS upgrade is a big project in corporate environment. ![]() ![]()
